Meet Maegan
When I was eight years old, my grandparents gifted me my first camera and I’ve been taking pictures ever since. I would take pictures of anything that caught my eye—colorful landscapes, close-ups of flowers in bloom, quirky architectural details. Photography has always been a creative outlet for me, especially over the past twenty-ish years, photographing family weddings and my many nieces and nephews growing up while also working as a graphic designer and brand strategist.
But it wasn’t until I had my daughter (almost five-and-a-half years ago now!) that I truly fell in love with portraiture and family photography, realizing how powerful these pictures are in their ability to stop time and make you feel. I’m a storyteller, having studied communication at the University of Miami for my bachelors and at Northwestern University for my masters—and nothing makes me happier than crafting a story with my lens, capturing the beauty of genuine moments.
I think it’s telling that during the first three years of my daughter’s life, I took over 30,000 pictures of her! I love that I was able to capture her smile through the years (gummy at first, then toothy, and now a full set of pearly whites!); her pudgy, little starfish hands; and her baby curls that she’s since outgrown. It goes so fast, many mothers tell me. I now fully believe that it does, especially when I see a picture of my daughter from even just a few months ago and it hits me that she’s changed—she’ll never be that little version of herself again. Mamas, you know what I mean! :) I want to capture these fleeting moments and details for you, your family and future generations in a way that’s timeless and heartfelt.
It’s an honor and a privilege to get to know you and your family and to be trusted to document genuine moments—big and small. Taking pictures brings me so much joy and I feel beyond blessed to be living my passion. I can’t wait to create beautiful, memorable pictures with you.
These days, when I’m not behind a camera, you’ll probably find me doing arts and crafts or reading stories with my daughter; squeezing in a Peloton ride; or getting lost in a good novel.
